GRI Event Sector Public Comment Open
As a member of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Event Sector Supplement working group, I collaborate with an amazing variety of experienced event organizers and committed NGO and government representatives. Over the past 18 months, we have drafted guidelines (using the existing G3 guidelines) specific to the event sector, to be used for reporting. This draft is now open for its final public comment before a last review by the working group and, ultimately, publication.
THAT MEANS YOU.
I didn’t fully appreciate the reverence that the GRI is held in by the business community until I encountered it in my MBA classes on sustainable business. I’ve had speakers from major energy companies come to class and brag about their GRI involvement. One even said they had used the reporting framework to help evaluate a project that hasn’t even happened yet…they felt it was a “next best practice”.
For years the events community has been talking about how to get that elusive “seat at the table”. The GRI event sector supplement will allow meeting professionals to talk the language of business with fluency.
